Section Policies

Editorial

Editorials are typically written by the editor or invited guests.

Articles

All articles need to be original. They may come from a variety of disciplines and theoretical perspectives. However, papers dealing with the positive psychology of meaning and the therapeutic benefits of meaning-oriented interventions are most welcome.

Commentaries

Normally, commentaries are provided by peer reviewers. However, commentaries on the original article as well as peer reviews are also welcomed. All commentaries should be no longer than 2,000 words, and they should be constructive and courteous. Even critical notes and disagreements can still be presented in a civil manner befitting scholarly dialogue. Any commentaries inconsistent with this policy will be rejected.

Expert Interviews

From time to time, our editorial team will interview experts on the vital role of meaning, well-being, and psychotherapy.

Book Reviews

Both publishers and authors are welcome to send their new publications to the editor for review. Only books that are timely, appropriate, and scholarly will be sent out for review. Book reviews are by invitation from the editor. Generally, book reviews should be less than 3,000 words.

Peer Review Process

All submissions will first be screened by the editor with respect to the appropriateness and/or scholarliness. Therefore, some submissions may be rejected by the editor immediately without going through peer review. After the initial screening, all papers will be sent out for peer-review by two experts. We are experimenting with an open review system. The main feature of this new system is that reviewers are required to have at least portions of the review published alongside with the article so that the broad readership will have a chance to comment on the quality of their review. This is intended to improve the review process and make the reviewer more accountable. The review process usually takes about six weeks.

Publication Frequency

At present, IJEPP is published twice a year. However, plans are underway to increase the publication frequency.
